1. Collection can solve the plastic waste problem, but Silverit is not starting with collection. Why?

Collecting clean plastic from home is the best solution to reduce plastic waste and improve recycling.

But answer for yourself. Will you segregate and give your plastic for recycling every day or every month without fail? Our research says ‘no, you will throw it in garbage only’.

In just about 3 minutes and 25 seconds a month a family can store all its plastic. But they won’t do it if they do not get any immediate benefit. With Silverit people will first start getting money-value for plastic. This will help them to decide if they want to store or throw their plastic in garbage. And because most people do not throw money in garbage, they will start storing plastic at home.

America took 165-170 years to become a superpower. India fought for 200 years to get independence. It took roughly 70 years to build today’s AI tools, evolving from Alan Turing’s 1950 theoretical framework to modern systems like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

You spend 12 months to study and prepare for final exams and go the next class. Why can it not happen in 1 month? Your parents want you to earn money, right? That is why they first put you in school where you spend 15 years to build the habit of reading, writing, thinking, solving and all that. And then you spend another 3-7 years to become an expert. Then someone gives you a job. Every permanent solution and habit is built step by step. Just like a student’s career.

Throwing plastic in garbage is a 100 years old habit. But India’s AI-Gen will build the habit changing solution ‘Silverit’ in just about 1 year. As a result crores of families will happily store and give their plastic to recyclers such as Shakti Plastics, Banyan Nation from doorstep.

  • GiftCards will be available to download on your Bootcamp Dashboard.
  • GiftCards will also be sent on the WhatsApp on your registered mobile number and on your registered email.
8. Important note for all participants

We will be using widely used and popular third-party OCR software from trusted companies such as Google (Alphabet), Adobe and others will be used to read the grocery bills submitted by students. These technologies are still evolving, and 100% accuracy should not be expected. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software helps to read and extract information from the bills which is then put in a table in a universal format. By doing this Silverit is able to understand the plastic footprint of brands and items in a household.

Though Silverit is working to improve the results given by available OCR technologies, you should expect a maximum accuracy up to 80% in reading and extracting the bill data such as brand name, item name, size, quantity. The OCR results will thus be considered final and non-disputable.

Quantity of SilverStars and corresponding value of GiftCards will be calculated on the basis of OCR results obtained by Silverit and will be considered final. The accuracy in OCR results will also largely depend on:

  • (A) Image clarity of the bill uploaded by a student
  • (B) Extent of noise (background objects, crushed paper, dull prints, lighting) in the bill image.
  • (C) Legibility of bills (such as hand-written, taped, torn bills cannot be read properly)
